Circular Voices: Revealing the Real Impact of Circular Agriculture in Spain and Bulgaria

Circular Voices is a new pilot project led by AgriVentures (Bulgaria) and Alberizas (Spain), supported by the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA) and the Circular Food Systems Network. The project aims to make circular agriculture more visible by documenting not only what circular practices look like, but why farmers choose them and how they deliver climate, economic, and social benefits.
Across Spain and Bulgaria, the project will map circular practices in sectors such as olive groves, pork production, citrus, wine, lavender, sunflower, cereals, and greenhouse systems.
Through participatory workshops, farmer-led storytelling, short video documentaries, and a visual learning toolkit, Circular Voices captures the practical trade-offs, challenges, and innovations that shape real-world circularity on farms.
The focus is on turning experiential knowledge into accessible narratives that help farmers communicate the value of their practices to peers, cooperatives, advisors, and policymakers.
The project aligns with the EU Circular Economy Action Plan and the FAO Climate-Smart Agriculture framework, contributing to wider efforts to accelerate adoption of circular and regenerative solutions across Europe.
As part of this initiative, the first Circular Voices Workshop will take place on 3 December in Sofia, bringing together farmers, innovators, and advisors to co-create stories, identify communication bottlenecks, and highlight strong circular practices that may be featured in the project’s videos and toolkit.

Circular Voices ultimately aims to strengthen the visibility, credibility, and transferability of circular solutions, supporting a more resilient and climate-smart food system.
