The International CROP Innovation & Business (CropIB) 2026 conference will take place in Wageningen, the Netherlands, bringing together leading experts, companies, researchers, and innovators from across the global agri-food sector.

Hosted at Wageningen University & Research, the event will focus on the theme “New Frontiers: exploring breakthroughs in technologies, talent, startups, and crops shaping the future of crop innovation.”

Day 1 of the conference will set the stage with a forward-looking programme designed to highlight key trends and challenges in crop science, breeding, and agri-innovation. The event will open with welcome remarks, followed by high-level plenary sessions addressing the evolving crop innovation ecosystem.

Key topics scheduled for discussion include:

  • Fair access to patents and intellectual property, exploring standardized licensing approaches to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers for breeders and agtech companies

  • The future crop innovation ecosystem, with insights into collaboration between research institutions, industry players, and startups

  • Emerging technologies and business models that are transforming plant breeding and crop development

The first day will also provide ample opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange, allowing participants to connect with peers, potential partners, and industry leaders in an international setting.

CropIB 2026 will continue over multiple days with in-depth sessions on advanced breeding technologies, data-driven innovation, startups, and cross-sector collaboration — making it a key meeting point for those shaping the future of crops and food systems.

On 27–28 May, our team — represented by Ivaylo Yankov — joined partners from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and Poland in...
