Digital Europe opens a new call for regulatory compliance tech

The European Commission’s DIGITAL-2026-AI-DATA-10-COMPLIANCE call backs projects that use data and AI to automate regulatory compliance, reduce reporting burden, and improve secure data exchange across sectors. The topic is open for submissions until 1 October 2026, 17:00 CEST, with a total budget of €8.5 million under the Digital Europe Programme.
What the call funds
This call is designed to support digital solutions that make compliance reporting more efficient and trustworthy, especially where organizations must repeatedly submit structured regulatory data. It focuses on practical pilot use cases rather than research, with an emphasis on real-world deployment, automation, and secure information sharing.
Projects are expected to address the technical, legal, governance, and processing dimensions of compliance workflows. The call also highlights advanced technologies such as automatic transmission, analysis, cloud storage, encryption, privacy-preserving methods, and machine-readable reporting requirements.

Who can apply
The topic is aimed at European consortia working on digital compliance solutions, particularly in sectors with heavy administrative loads such as environment, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and agriculture. The funding is intended for consortia from eligible countries, with proposals requiring cross-border collaboration.
Eligibility and format
This is a single-stage call with an opening date of 21 April 2026 and a deadline of 1 October 2026. The initiative has a total budget of €8.5 million and is expected to fund a small number of projects. Proposals should be multi-beneficiary, with at least three independent applicants from three different eligible countries, and that funding is provided as a lump sum at 50% of eligible costs.
What proposals should show
Successful proposals should demonstrate at least one realistic pilot use case, show how compliance can be automated or improved through trusted data sharing, and explain how the solution will work in operational settings. The call also encourages the use of the European Digital Identity Wallet and trust services where relevant.
A strong application should also cover access control, audit trails, data security, and scalability, while making clear how the approach avoids overlaps with other EU initiatives.
Why it matters
This call is part of the EU’s wider effort to make compliance faster, cheaper, and more reliable for both businesses and public administrations. In practice, that means less manual reporting, more transparent data flows, and better enforcement of rules that depend on timely, accurate information.
