Smart Farm Robotix Secures Backing from Vitosha Ventures’ New €34M Fund

Bulgaria’s agritech ecosystem received a fresh vote of confidence this month as Smart Farm Robotix was announced among the first ten companies selected for investment by Vitosha Ventures Fund II, a newly launched €34 million venture fund focused on supporting the next generation of Bulgarian startups.

Betting on the Future of Sustainable Agriculture
At a time when farmers face increasing pressure to boost productivity while reducing environmental impact, Smart Farm Robotix is tackling one of agriculture’s most persistent challenges: weed control.
The startup is developing an autonomous, solar-powered agricultural robot that uses artificial intelligence to identify weeds and eliminate them through precisely directed energy, removing the need for traditional herbicides.
The approach represents a shift toward more sustainable farming practices. By replacing chemical treatments with targeted, AI-driven weed management, the company aims to help growers reduce costs, limit environmental damage, and improve long-term soil health.
As regulations around pesticide usage become stricter across Europe and consumer demand for sustainable food production continues to grow, solutions like Smart Farm Robotix could play an increasingly important role in modern agriculture.
A Strong Signal from Vitosha Ventures
The investment comes as part of Vitosha Ventures’ newly closed second fund, which plans to invest in nearly 80 Bulgarian startups through 2030. The first investment cohort spans sectors including AI, robotics, logistics, maritime technology, recruitment, consumer technology, and agriculture.
For Smart Farm Robotix, inclusion among this inaugural group highlights growing investor confidence in deep-tech and robotics companies emerging from Central and Eastern Europe.
Vitosha Ventures has positioned itself as one of Bulgaria’s most active startup investors, having reviewed more than 3,000 projects and invested in 117 startups since 2020.
Additional Validation from Europe
Beyond the backing from Vitosha Ventures, Smart Farm Robotix has also achieved an important milestone by being approved for investment by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator, one of Europe’s most competitive programs for high-potential technology companies.
The combination of venture capital support and recognition from the EIC Accelerator provides the company with both financial resources and external validation as it advances its technology toward broader commercialization.
Why This Matters
Agricultural robotics is rapidly moving from experimental technology to practical necessity. Labor shortages, rising production costs, climate pressures, and sustainability requirements are pushing farmers to adopt automation at an unprecedented pace.
Smart Farm Robotix sits at the intersection of several major trends:
AI-powered precision agriculture
Sustainable and chemical-free farming
Farm automation and robotics
Renewable energy-powered equipment
Its autonomous, solar-powered platform reflects the type of innovation investors are increasingly seeking: solutions that combine economic value with measurable environmental benefits.

Looking Ahead
As Vitosha Ventures begins deploying capital from its new fund, Smart Farm Robotix stands out as one of the portfolio companies addressing a global challenge with frontier technology. The startup’s vision of autonomous, AI-driven weed management could help shape a more sustainable future for farming, while demonstrating the growing strength of Bulgaria’s agritech and robotics ecosystem.
With fresh funding, industry validation, and a technology aligned with some of agriculture’s most pressing needs, Smart Farm Robotix is positioning itself as a startup worth watching in the years ahead.

Agriventures Joins SYSARM: Helping Europe’s Farmers
Every farmer already knows how to manage risk day to day — weather, prices, supply chains, you name it. What most don’t have is a way to see how all of those risks connect, and how a decision made today can come back to bite (or help) them two seasons from now. That’s the gap SYSARM is here to close, and Agriventures has just signed on as a core partner to help make it happen. On 27–28 May, our team — represented by Ivaylo Yankov — joined partners from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria and Poland in...
