Turning Agricultural Data into Actionable Decisions: European Workshop on the Future of Agri-Data Ecosystems

On 13 March 2026, the EU CAP Network will host an online workshop titled From Data to Decisions: Building Europe’s Next-Generation Agri-Data Ecosystem, bringing together key stakeholders to address one of the most pressing challenges in modern agriculture: transforming the vast volumes of agricultural data generated across Europe into actionable intelligence for farmers, advisors, researchers, and policymakers.
European agriculture continuously produces extensive datasets, ranging from satellite imagery and climate modeling outputs to farm management system records and platform-generated analytics. Despite this abundance of information, significant barriers remain when it comes to converting raw data into practical, reliable decision-support tools. The upcoming workshop will examine how these barriers can be overcome and how a coherent, interoperable agri-data ecosystem can be developed to strengthen sustainability, resilience, and competitiveness in the sector.
A central component of the event will be the presentation of six projects funded under Horizon Europe. These initiatives will showcase concrete technological solutions and methodological approaches designed to enhance data integration, interoperability, and usability in real-world agricultural contexts. Through structured project presentations and a moderated interactive discussion, participants will explore common challenges, identify synergies, and consider pathways toward greater coordination across Europe’s digital agriculture landscape.
The workshop will focus particularly on the technical and governance dimensions of agri-data systems. Interoperability standards, data governance models, ownership frameworks, and trust mechanisms will form core elements of the discussion. Ensuring that data can move securely and efficiently between systems, while safeguarding farmers’ rights and encouraging responsible data sharing, remains essential for building confidence and accelerating adoption.

The event is designed for a broad stakeholder community, including farmers, farm advisors, policymakers, researchers, AgriTech developers, and sustainability professionals. By facilitating cross-sector dialogue, the workshop aims to bridge the gap between technological innovation and practical agricultural application. The ultimate objective is to support evidence-based decision-making that advances environmental performance, climate resilience, and long-term sectoral viability.
Participation in the online workshop will be free of charge, enabling wide accessibility across Member States. By convening leading projects and stakeholders, the EU CAP Network will provide a strategic platform to shape Europe’s next generation of agri-data ecosystems and ensure that agricultural data becomes a driver of informed, future-oriented decision-making rather than an underutilised resource.
