Webinar to Explore Real Costs and Benefits of Farm Digitalisation in Europe

Farmers, advisors and agri-stakeholders are invited to join the upcoming webinar:
“Co-benefits & costs of digitalisation in agriculture: evidence from Europe” on 24 February 2026 from 10:00 to 11:30 (CET)
As digital technologies become increasingly common on European farms, they are often associated with higher productivity, improved environmental performance and stronger farm resilience. However, digitalisation is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Its impact varies depending on farm size, production system, skills, advisory support and local conditions.
This webinar will provide practical insights grounded in both farmer experience and research evidence, helping participants better understand where digital tools truly add value — and where challenges may arise.
From Research to Farm Reality
The event builds on findings from the CODECS Project report examining the environmental, economic and social costs and benefits of farm digitalisation across Europe.
By combining:
Farmers’ real-life experiences
Quantitative environmental impact assessments
Farm-level economic analysis
Social research on work organisation and well-being
the webinar will present a balanced picture of how digital technologies affect everyday agricultural practice.
What Participants Will Learn
The session will highlight how digitalisation can contribute to:
More efficient input use, including fertilisers and crop protection products
Improved planning and decision-making
Better working conditions and time management
At the same time, speakers will address important challenges, such as:
High investment and maintenance costs
Ongoing learning and skills requirements
Data governance and ownership concerns
Pressure linked to constant connectivity and system dependence
Risks of exclusion for farms with limited resources or infrastructure
Concrete case studies will demonstrate how these benefits and costs materialise in practice, and where trade-offs may occur between economic performance, environmental outcomes and social sustainability.
Supporting Better Decisions and Policies
By bringing together research findings and on-the-ground farming experience, the webinar aims to encourage more realistic and transparent discussions about digital farming. The case studies will provide practical grounding for debate and offer insights to help shape policies and support mechanisms that ensure digitalisation delivers value — not only technologically, but also economically, socially and environmentally.
As digitalisation continues to shape European agriculture, discussions like this help ensure that innovation works for farmers, not just around them — balancing profitability, sustainability and practical realities on the ground.

International online event on Circular agrifood opportunities for funding. Circular Voices
Europe’s agri-food sector is entering a decisive decade. Rising resource pressures, climate volatility, supply chain instability and shifting consumer expectations are forcing companies, researchers and policymakers to rethink how food systems operate. The linear model of production, consumption and waste is no longer economically or environmentally sustainable. The question is no longer whether circularity will become central to agri-food systems. The question is who will lead the transition....
